“I first saw her in [1999 psychological drama] ‘Girl Interrupted’ and that is still my favorite film of hers,” reveals Kuroki, who says she has been inspired by Jolie’s background and lifestyle.
“She had a difficult life growing up, it must have been a hard time,” she says, alluding to the fact that Jolie was raised by a single mom who gave up her own acting ambitions to raise Jolie and her brother in New York. “I felt sympathy for her and have been inspired by her ambition and lifestyle ever since.”
Kuroki was chosen by Sony Pictures to join Jolie on stage at the Roppongi Grand Hyatt Hotel’s ballroom for the July 27, 2010 press conference.
